    Stephen Hawking
A while back yahoo answers had a promotion of sorts with people logging in to answer a question by Stephen Hawking (if you don't know who he is google him now. I'll wait, hmm, ah, hmmm. oh good you're back)
I posted an entry myself and realized as I was posting it that it was similar to the inscriptions on a set of stones (In Georgia I think) being rerferred to as the american stonehenge. They were several decades old at least. Old enough anyway that who and why they were erected had been forgotten. There was a report I saw on my yahoo page, possibly through the damn interesting website of local politicians wnting to tear them down.
I'll let those interested enough web search this on your own.
I wanted to post my answer to Dr. Hawking here for future reference as I may want to revisit the subject and add or revise something.
As I recall the question was something like "how will mankind survive the next 100 years"

First by halving the population of the planet (Man and animal). It's sad , and I'm sorry to have to say it knowing about your physical status, but we can't save everyone. All pollution stems from the same source, living beings. Our planet is a self repairing organism, yes it is a living thing and we are all parts of it, but it is being overwhelmed.
Second facing TRUE responsibility. That means individual responsibility, not just responsibility faced alone but, the acceptance that we ALL SHARE responsibility for earths scientific, technological, and political problems and admit our part. (more on this later)
Third OFFEND Political correctness may be polite and spread good feelimgs. ALL good lies do. It is wishful thinking at best. But thats about all it is capable of. To truly enlighten each other, forge true friendships, and achieve real progress in general you must be willing to risk offending people on occasion. NOTHING IS MORE OFFENSIVE THAN THE TRUTH. The man who only brings good news is a liar. By the same token we must strive to not take offense. As a whole we seeme to have begun taking it as a shield to hide ourselves from the truths we fear or worse simply do not like. This allows us to hide from having to accept that sometimes the world is not as we like.
PART FOUR Get the politicians, pundits, and busybodies to SHUT THE F K UP. FIxing blame is worse than fixing nothing and they have all pretty well shown themselves totally incapable of actually fixing anything else. Too many people follow blindly behind the blind with no idea where they were going in the first place.
Fifth Know yourself or you will never know anything. know what you think not just what others tell you you should think, what you feel not just what others think you should feel

    Batwoman
So DC has decided to bring back a character from the fifties- OK, why not

She's being revamped- Ok after all its beem almost 50 years since the first time around so there's bound to be a need fo some updating.

She is now a lesbian- ??????????????????? WHAT THE F()[<

OK Folks we're talking about an ink and paper drawing here. Why does there even have to be a reference to sexual orientation. This makes as much sense as Pikachu and the teletubbies being outed. They neglected to notice that quite simply no gender had ever been given for either and simply jumped to conclusions on guesswork ignoring the most important of all facts and in all three cases the only real and pertinent one: THEY ARE NOT REAL YA' IDJITS. They don't really have sex with anybody, so why bother spelling out ANY sexual preference.

What the widespread celebrating over Catwomans remake as a lesbian/hooker/dominatrix during year one not enough now that she's once more a straight burglar with multiple origins and identities for every hack writer that took over the script chores. ( I won't even go into thier inability to pick an ethnicity for her and stick with it.

One reason people that read comics do so because they like the consistency of characters or even watching their evolution. They were a simple medium telling simple stories. Not always for children but meant to be accessible and understandable by all. Yes, there was sometimes a subtext of real world issues, but handled tastefully.

The whole point of this lesbian announcewment is lost on me. It's only possible purpose is to stir up controversy for free publicity.

And they wonder why readership is down. Adult need not mean sex is the anchor point of the book, character, series

    Celebrities
Something I've been thinking about over the last week.
George Clooney is so upset over some Gawkerstalker website that reports where celebrities have been seen he can't stand it. What does he do? Run to the very same media enablers that created the market for these attack mediates ( paparazzi, web stalkers, etc).
Does anybody recall the last real news story any of these shows covered. Hint, In my case it was John Belushis' death. It is almost as disturbing to imagime somewhere out there some college kid is saying " I thought his name was Jim?". Yes it's been that long folks.
Since then these televised bottom feeders who probably couldn't get a job selling TV's if they were'nt one it every night, have done worse than ape the cheap tabloids they pretend to be better than. Not only by anouncing any story no matter how trivial (OK. So Lindsey Lohan is a woman driver so what), like it's the scond coming of christ (or Elvis if you're sick of hearing anythiing Mel Gibson related). But turning their microphone over to any celeb no matter how minor ( Think cities in France I now hate for having the same name in addition to other reasons). To plug some crap project that wouldn't get the time of day if it hadn't been green lighted by some idiot at their parent company by letting them vent their often biased opinions on any subject under the sun.
Don't like websites that may or may not tell people where you've been THEN QUIT JUMPING IN FRONT OF EVERY TV CREW YOU SEE, GET OFF THE DAMN AIR, SMACK YOURSELF IN THE FACE WITH A MEAT TENDERIZER TILL NOBODY WANTS TO LOOK AT YOU, AND GO GET A REAL JOB.
And don't give me how hard a job being a celebrity is., Or how you do it to make the world a better place. You crossed over the thin line to public annoyance if not outright nuisance long ago, SO SHUT UP ALREADY.

And anyone who thinks I just need to get a life because I think this. You need to get a reality and quit thinking you should be the center of ANYONES UNIVERSE.

    BMG MUSIC LAWSUIT
just to be brief sony BMG used a copyright protetion system that has screwed up computers often just by playing then tried to weasel out if responsibility.
Pretty much the same way they accuse the people who download music supposedly "avoid responsibility" and harm the poor multimillionaire music acts they push out albums by the dozen on the basis of one good song ( and not necessarily per album).
Anyway if anyone seeing this has used one and crapped the hell out of your computer try this link.

    Mardi Gras
I've been thinking about New Orleans again this morning. The morning shows have been covering the parts of Mardi Gras that fit thier stories this week.
They of course dragged out the cooking segments to talk about " The struggles to re-open New Orleans famous restraunts. While so many have debated Having Mardi Gras this year at all.".
BULL54!7* !!! How do they think New orleans is going to re build or do anything.
Reconstruction costs money, and if you are waiting on Uncle Sam to provide it, FUGGEDDABOUTIT, as the mob guys say.
Face it our government long ago evolved into a cash vacuum sucking up our cash to fund THEIR bridges to nowhere, and even less productive holes into the Charles river that were once supposed to be tunnels.**
It's the old saying in action once again sh17* in one hand, gripe in the other, seewhich one fiils up first. The businesses that are open, making money are also raising the only money that is likely to truly contribute to the rebuilding of New Orleans.
Mardi Gras, all its events and parades in case anyone didn't know already, began as a promotion to attract tourists and their dollars.
Some people just refuse to learn. You'll get farther even if it means crawling in the mud than you ever will standing around pointing fingers and hollerin'.

    * cleaned and sanitized for your peace of mind
** If we really want to end the pork barrel. We have to start prosecuting these legislators for these titanic wastes of resources to their posterity.

I know, I know, Ive not been keeping up with this like I intended.
I get busy with hunting a new job. Getting up firewood for next winter. The part time job. Online games. blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
The sad thing is almost everyday I think of or see something I mean to write about here, but....
By the time I get home log on the WWW. I've forgotten about it. Not sure if thats due to my crappy memory or just where was I? Oh! if it just wasn't that memorable. Oh well, try harder next month.

Bradbury Chronicles, Al Lewis & strangers passing
Sometimes the way you think on a subject and why we think that way isn't as obvious as we may think. I've Been reading a biography of one of everyones favorite writers Ray Bradbury. It mentions often a couple things. One is that Bradbury himself wrote many of his stories in a sort of Zen fashion. Not truly realizing himself what he was trying to say with a particular piece. He often found hidden meanings years, even decades later when discussing them during public appearances.

The other is about how we lose something of ourselves with the loss of something or someone we remember fondly from our past.

The two of these intersect in my posting of the death of "Grampa Munster. I thought at the time it was just a case of someone dying that I had enjoyed his work over the years.

Since then I've realized that a large part of my regrets over Al Lewis death was that it meant the passing of a little bit more of myself an my past and memories of my chilhood watching a favorite tv show alongside my brother Earle who also died this past November.

just learned of Grampa Munster Al Lewis passing away

I Used to enjoy listening to him when he was the guest on the Alan Handelman show on the radio here in NC. I didn't agree with all of his political stands, but still always enjoyed hearing from him.
It was something that had more or less been expected since hearing of his slipping into a coma during a hospital stay a couple of years back and waking up to find they 'd had to amputate his leg due to complications while he was out.
Still even at that advanced age and no doubt in failing health I hated yo hear it.
Maybe it's just that I've begun hating to hear of anyones death.
I forget where it's from but there is an old saying. Something like, "Every mans death diminishes me."

    History
Noticed a an article on BoingBoing about today being the anniversary of Marion Barrys' drug bust and now famous quote, "The bitch set me up".   Well bitches have been known to do that and fools have been known to bite MB.
But on top of watching the DVD of one of the old Batman serials from the 40's has had me thinking about bits of history we either forget or hope the rest of us have:
Lincoln = Gave us the income tax, scholars now admit emancipation proclamation violated the constitution exceeding his authority
FDR= many of his depression era work programs were actually ruled unconstitutional, yet he went ahead with them anyway.  Worse, he interned hundreds of asian americans, most were actually US citizens. Many (like Star Treks' George Takei), by birth.
Truman actually used the Atomic bomb on civilians twice, some now debate the necessity espcially in the case of Nagasaki. Apparently he had lamer justification than the Iraqi WMDs in that instance.
Eisenhower and his handling of Gary Powers U2 incident
Kennedy = Led US into Viet Nam
Nixon = The pentagon papers (yes I know what your thinking, but by comparison Wategate was a smokescreen, or do you believe the whitehouse should be able to close newspapers).
Jimmy Carter = Iran, still believes it's possible to just make everyone like us, (A aure way to make people hate you)
Reagan = Did honestly leave too many decisions to others in his administration
George H. W. Bush = Face it had he stuck to his guns and taken out Hussien at the end of the Gulf war we probably wouldn't be there now.
Clinton = Take your pick, All about sex? only because it was the only case they ACTUALLY ANSWERED TO. abuse of powers; IRS ( GAO estimated the possibility of so many of his accusers being audited legitimately in the two billion to one range) ,Whitehouse travel office, FBI file misappropriated, and prosecutions of former, administration members on often trivial charges, Mena Arkansas related drug investigations.
Current Bush = A totally blind view of the hostile invasion of America illegal immigration has become with the aid of bad legislation on the heels of Reagans' amnesty program. Which(if either)foot holds the smoking bullethole for domestic wire tapping mess is yet to be seen.

    Waking Thought
woke up to the Mayor of New Orleans(Ray 'Nagan'?)calling New Orleans a "Chocolate" City. Then trying to make it sound like it WASN"T a RACIST comment.
I always considered that to be the true sign that something IS racist. At least as far as the media is concerned.
If the comment isn't racist why do you refer to race at all.
It just throws more gas on the fire, and dignifies a foolish argument.
I've heard too many A. Americans try to pull off that, "But, I Can't Be racist" load of B.S.

OK, first time (cheated using basic figure & items from Heromachine@ ugo.com then tweaking in mspaint)
